If you've attempted to post before the deadline but been prevented by technical issues related to the site, please contact any mod and if possible an arrangement will be made to add your entry to the challenge. You're strongly advised to preview your post before confirming.ġ3) All stories submitted after the deadline will be disqualified, though they'll be approved as non-challenge stories, if appropriate. Story content, including spelling, punctuation, grammar and any omissions or surplus material, cannot be altered. If you need to fix minor FORMATTING errors once you have submitted (eg layout issues or accidental inclusion of code), PM Nyki with exact details and an agreement will be struck if applicable. If you attempt to do so, your story will be disqualified from the contest.
However, please remember that the judges will only take account of the story, not of any notes of explanation.ġ2) Once your story has been approved by a moderator, you cannot alter it until the judging results have been announced, unless the mods request changes. If you wish to add the kind of notes normally featured on a cover page, these may be added to the top or bottom of the page, as long as they are clearly distinguished from the story. no cover page, any chapters or sections the story is divided into must be together on the same page, and the story must not be posted as a chapter of a longer work.
The definition of fantasy will be broad (including science fiction, as long as it's not too technical) but not unlimited.ĩ) Each member may submit only one entry for this Story Challenge.ġ0) Please choose both a story category and the appropriate challenge category for your entry.ġ1) All entries must be submitted on a single page - i.e. Please DO NOT attempt to post your entry before the challenge category is available, since this will count as being already submitted when entries open.Ĩ ) All stories submitted for the writing challenge must be fantasy stories, in any sub-genre. If you're in doubt as to whether your story fits these guidelines, you're welcome to contact any mod to discuss the matter.ħ) Stories already submitted to are not eligible for the writing challenge after their original post date on the site. Please follow the Fantasy-Writers guidelines for story submission for the General/YA or Younger categories, which include no excessive violence, no excessive language and no excessive sexual content, as well as the overall guidelines, such as no plagiarism and no political or religious preaching. It's your responsibility to proofread your entry before submission.Ĥ) All entries must be substantially prose narratives, although they can include short pieces of verse if required.ĥ) Write a story revolving around a relationship that is only possible because of magic.Ħ) All entries must be suitable for the "General" or "YA & Younger" content categories and posted under one or the other of these. There will be a first, second and third place winner chosen by the Challenge Judges, plus a Member’s Choice. All stories submitted must be in before 28th February at 11:59 pm EST. The category will be made available at some time on 15th February - do not attempt to submit until this is available. If it fits the wording above, it's acceptable.ġ) Stories may be submitted from 15th February via online story submission under the challenge category “February 2022 Challenge”. You can interpret that any way you like, but magic of some kind has to be essential for the relationship to exist.
